Microcross Visual X-Tools is an integrated development environment, based on the latest stable GNU tools release with added enhancements, features, and comprehensive documentation.

The graphical environment is enhanced by integration of a customized version of Visual SlickEdit, featuring code editing, syntax colouring, symbol lookup, code navigation, context tagging, search and replace, C/C++ source beautification, file differencing, and source build interface and debug. The Visual GDB debugger provides integrated C/C++ and (dis)assembly, break-point support and debug connectivity via external interfaces.

Project Wizards for all supported target CPUs ease migration between targets, and provide an intuitive windows-style cross environment for building, configuring and debugging proprietary and open source RTOS/OS kernels, drivers, libraries, and user applications. Target support includes: ARC, ARM7/9, ARM Thumb, Atmel AVR, Hitachi H8, SH2/3/4, Intel i386/486/Pentium, StrongARM, XScale, MIPS, Mitsubishi M32R, Motorola 68K, CPU32, ColdFire, PowerPC, Panasonic MN10200, MN10300, NEC V850, Sparc, SparcLite, UltraSparc.
