ADI logoADI Engineering - Coyote Gateway Reference Design

Coyote Gateway Reference Design
Coyote is a richly-featured, production-ready gateway reference design based on the Intel IXP425 network processor. With its broadly-based software support including operating systems and pre-validated RG and VoIP stacks, Coyote offers a complete hardware and software solution for integrated voice and data gateways for the residential, SOHO and SME markets. Coyote is an excellent vehicle for gateway OEMs to get product to market faster, at lower cost, and with less development risk.

Coyote is fully supported by pre-validated RG stacks from Jungo and others. These offer complete data gateway services including VPN, stateful packet inspection firewall, ADSL, wireless, bridging and routing, and remote management, as well as support for VoIP capabilities including H.323, MGCP, and SIP, using the IXP425's native DSP capabilities and the POTS interfaces on Coyote. Through our "Application in a Flash Program" we can provide Coyote or Monte Jade boards with an OpenRG demo up and running, or supply demo software which can be installed via the bootloader or a JTAG emulator on existing boards.

The Coyote platform is supported by the following operating systems and gateway software:

  • Metrowerks 2.4.19 Linux
  • MontaVista Professional Edition 3.1 Linux
  • SnapGear 2.4.22 and 2.6 Linux
  • Jungo 2.4.19 Linux
  • RedBoot 1.92
  • WindRiver VxWorks 5.5 and Tornado 2.2
  • Third party RG stacks, including Intoto iGateway and Jungo OpenRG:
    • Stateful firewall
    • VPN
    • Wireless access point (802.11a/b/g, Bluetooth)
    • VoIP: H.323, MGCP, SIP
    • Remote management (Web & SNMP)
    • QoS
    • USB, ADSL, Home networking
    • Universal Plug and Play

Coyote fully supports the entire Intel IXP42x family of network processors, including the IXP420, IXP421 and IXP422. ADI Engineering is producing as standard product variants of Coyote featuring all the members of the IXP42x family. These additional products will be available in September 2003. Please contact us for additional details.

ADI Engineering maintains the expertise to quickly turn variants of Coyote that meet specific production requirements, offering a customized design solution that eliminates unneeded Coyote features and adds new functionality required by the target application. By leveraging our extensive IXP425 experience, we can help you reach your custom design solution faster, and at far less cost and risk than other alternatives. We deliver manufactured production units at virtually all volumes, or support a customer's manufacturing operation via our flexible design licensing options.

ADI can, at your option, supply a truly turnkey production solution that bundles gateway software configured to your specifications with a cost- and feature-optimized hardware platform. We can also supply production hardware simply with a fully qualified operating system BSP, allowing you to add your own proprietary application code. In either case, ADI supplies fully validated hardware, tested and certified to the EMC standards required by your specific geographic markets.
