At just 88 x 110mm, the new Cinnamon Bay SBC system-on-module is the
industry's smallest and lowest cost family of full-function embedded
Single Board Computers (SBCs) for the Intel Atom Z510P, Z530P and extended
temperature Z520PT processors. The Intel Atom Z5xxP processor line
allows Cinnamon Bay SBC to offer innovative new features such as -40
to +85C extended temperature operation, Power over Ethernet (PoE),
and lower price points than competitive products.
Cinnamon Bay SBC can be used standalone in many applications, since
common interfaces and standard connectors are included on the single
board. When expansion is required, off-the-shelf daughtercards, or a
custom application-specific one, can be added to meet unique requirements
for HD or SD video, audio, networking, and other features - transforming
Cinnamon Bay into a differentiated end product with low cost and quick
time to market.
Available running Windows Embedded Standard, and also Linux, the Cinnamon
Bay Atom-based board targets a wide range of deeply embedded applications
such as IP media, interactive kiosks, panel PCs, digital signage, thin
clients, military, medical, wireless access, industrial controls, general-purpose
embedded computing, gaming, and point of sale (PoS) terminals.

Cinnamon Bay SBC brings significant new capabilities to the market:
- At 88 x 110mm, Cinnamon Bay is the smallest full-function, expandable
Atom Z5xx/Z5xxP-based SBC.
- First Atom production-ready module fully leveraging the board-level
cost reductions enabled by the Z5xxP processor line. Feature for
feature, Cinnamon Bay SBC is the lowest cost embedded Atom SBC on the
market, without sacrificing robustness, flexibility, or functionality.
- First Atom SBC offering an optional 802.3at Draft 3.0 Power over
Ethernet (PoE+) input, in addition to a conventional 12V power input.
Our PoE+ Option Module seamlessly adds PoE+ to Cinnamon Bay SBC’s
Gb Ethernet port, and provides up to 20 watts of spare power for daughtercards
and peripherals such as video displays, cameras, Wi-Fi or cellular
radios, mass storage devices, and sensors. ADI's PoE+ implementation
is backwards compatible with the older 802.3af PoE standard.
- First Atom SBC offering true -40C to +85C extended temperature fanless
operation that is crucial to military, outdoor, automotive, industrial
and other harsh applications.
- Lowest power consumption Atom SBC: 4W at full CPU loading, 0.4W
in S3 sleep state, and 0.2W in S4 and S5 sleep states.
- First Atom SBC offering hardware-based IEEE 1588 Ethernet packet
timestamping and 802.1as synchronization. Together, IEEE 1588 and 802.1as
provide high precision networked time transport and synchronization
for applications such as industrial control, automation and digital
audio/video.
- First Atom Z5xx SBC offering DDR2 scalability from 256MB to 2GB
via SO-DIMM, allowing customers to optimize memory size and cost for
their specific application.
- Only Atom SBC or system-on module that complies with FCC Part 15
and CE CISPR22 system-level emissions standards even without an enclosure.
Since the unhoused Cinnamon Bay SBC itself already is a compliant
system under FCC and CE emissions regulations, OEMs can add their choice
of enclosure and compliant peripherals and in many cases achieve automatic
compliance of their final system.
Cinnamon Bay is available now from Direct Insight, along with our full
range of services including baseboard/daughterboard design. As a Microsoft
Windows Embedded Gold Partner, we also offer full porting support and
training to aid migration to Windows Embedded Standard.
