JTAG Emulator: EPI
Whether debugging for Windows CE.NET, Linux, or with a wide variety of
other operating systems, the MAJIC-MX emulator provides a high-speed hardware
interface between the XScale processor, and either industry-standard debug
environments, such as Microsoft's Platform Builder,
GDB, MontaVista or EPI's own EDB debugger.
Completely non-intrusive, the MAJIC-MX interface communicates to the
CPU core by JTAG using the existing boundary scan pins. It uses no target
memory and requires no porting to the target system.
MAJIC-MX is especially designed for XScale devices, and as such is able
to access the XScale's Intel on-chip trace capability. With this facility,
on-chip debug circuitry captures trace information in real-time, which
is subsequently transferred to the emulator via the JTAG interface.
Ideal for SoC-based applications, MAJIC-MX provides 32 x 512K trace memory
with trace control. Complete processor control means you can start, stop
and single-step execution; read and write to registers, memory, and system
I/O; and download code to target RAM - all within most industry standard
debugger interfaces.
EPI's EDB source level debugger provides a powerful interactive debug
environment, with configurable RTOS support and extensive processor support.
For Windows CE.NET developers wishing to use hardware-assisted debug,
MAJIC products ship with an eXDI interface, and Platform Builder plug-in,
ensuring seamless integration.
