Processors - Direct Insight Products Supporting TI OMAP4460 family

TI's OMAP4460 series- including OMAP4430, OMAP 4440, OMAP 4460 and OMAP4470 are a pin compatible family of dual ARM Cortex-A9 core equipped application processors, designed for use in high-end portable products such as tablets and smartphones. In embedded use they represent ultimate performance in a low-power processor and are particularly well suited to tasks traditionally undertaken by PC systems, including large touch-screen displays with graphics and video. The OMAP4430 supports clock rates up to 1GHz while the dual ARM Cortex-A9 cores of the OMAP4460 are clocked at up to 1.5GHz, this device also having an enhanced imaging signal path. The OMAP4470 features an SGX544 graphics subsystem capabile of supporting up to 3 HD displays, and providing DirectX and DirectCompute acceleration which could make this processor a contender as a Windows 8 platform.

By designing in a production-quality module complete with Linux and Android BSPs, the power of the OMAP4460 can be brought to bear in an embedded project in a cost-effective and time-to-market sensitive manner.

SwiftModule-4460 is a 200-pin SODIMM board, measuring just 39mm x 68mm. For development purposes, SwiftModule-4460 plugs into the SwiftLite-4460 breakout board (dimensions 120mm x 100mm) providing a complete development system which runs Android or Linux out of the box. In production, the SwiftLite baseboard can be replaced with a simple baseboard carrying exactly the connectors required for your product.
