- Solutions for Marvell PXA270 / PXA270M microcontroller
The PXA270 combines ultra-low power consumption and performance exceeding that of ARM9-based CPUs, with a wide range of interfaces including an LCD controller. The PXA270M is a die change for the PXA270 with identical functionality and some minor specification changes. All of our products work with the new PXA270M.
Whether you're contemplating Windows CE or Linux, we provide the expertise and product solutions that will enable you to adopt PXA270 (or the new PXA320) while meeting your time-to-market goals. Whether you're looking for SBC solutions including production-ready modules, reference boards with comprehensive Board Support Packages for Linux or Windows CE, development solutions or complementary tools such as JTAG probes with specific PXA270 support, we can help.
Our experts are happy to discuss any aspect of PXA270 development without obligation. Please click here to contact us.
PXA270 modules and development systems: TRITON
The TRITON-270 module and TRITON StarterKit-3 development systems have provided a rapid route to market for dozens of PXA270-based projects based on Windows CE 5.0, CE 6.0 or embedded Linux 2.6.x. The basic idea is that by designing in a module rather than the microcontroller itself, many man-months of high-frequency multilayer PCB design, and complex OS porting effort are saved since a production-ready Board Support Package (BSP) and drivers are supplied.
The TRITON-270 is a tiny (68mm x 31mm) production-proven module carrying the PXA270 itself, along with ultra-low-power SDRAM and Flash as well as power management. This plugs into the TRITON StarterKit-3, which provides connectors for the PXA270's extensive on-board peripheral set including RS232, SD Card, CF Card, USB Device and Host, audio, I2C, SPI, SSP etc, as well as adding interfaces such Ethernet, Video DAC and AC'97 audio/touchscreen DAC.
The development setup comes with either Windows CE 5.0, CE 6.0 or Linux installed, with an optional WVGA touch-screen monitor.
For production, you (or we) design a low-complexity custom baseboard with the necessary connectors, and modify the BSP to suit your interfaces. |

PXA270 reference designs: Sophia
Sandgate-II
Sandgate II is a series of reference designs for PXA270. These references ship as a full DVK including a working board with all schematics and BSP source codes supplied. However, what makes the Sandgate-II series unique is that they are small, highly integrated and fully supported designs intended to allow you to get your own development underway at maximum speed. They are also highly suitable for application development.
The standard Sandgate-II includes an integrated VGA touch-screen, and a wide range of interfaces including Audio, SD/Memory Stick, CF, SIM, IrDA, RS-232C, USB 2.0, USB 1.1, LAN, JTAG. The Sandgate II-G adds 2700G multimedia co-processor, video DAC and IDE interface, while the Sandgate II-P is a wi-fi VoIP version.
PXA270 JTAG Emulator: EPI
Majic
The EPI Majic range of JTAG emulators provide a cost-effective and powerful debug interface for all XScale processors including the PXA series. Majic interfaces seamlessly with all common debuggers including GDB, Platform Builder and Intel's XDB. The product range includes a low-cost version for embedded Linux developers as well as a mid-range version which supports the XScale execution tracing capability with XDB. |
