GPRS modem for SwiftModule
System-on-module gets added connectivity Time-to-market forces mean that embedded devices are increasingly created around a production-ready CPU module, benefitting from instant access to the wide-ranging connectivity afforded by 32-bit operating systems such as Windows CE. SwiftGSM adds fully integrated hardware and software support for a quad-band GSM/GPRS modem, in the form of a reference design, drivers and an extension board for use with the SwiftModule system's SwiftKit development kit. Customers creating a SwiftModule based design with GSM connectivity would typically use the SwiftKit development system with a SwiftGSM installed, enabling them to begin application development immediately. Meanwhile, using the supplied schematics, a custom baseboard is created to implement the required connectors, power supply, and SwiftGSM circuit, and the ready-made SwiftModule plugs in to this. Alternatively, Direct Insight is able to turn around baseboards to customers' specifications in just 4-5 weeks. SwiftGSM is based on a Telit GE864 Quad Band modem with full Dial-up Network (DUN) integration, and a Windows CE 6.0 R2 Cellcore RIL (Radio Interface Layers). Typical applications include remote monitoring, traffic management, remote surveillance, shelf-edge displays, webservers, asset tracking, and any handheld solution requiring communications beyond the reliable reach of a wireless network. The SwiftModule system already supports 802.11b/g WiFi. SwiftGSM is available immediately. Additional information on SwiftModule can be found at www.swiftmodule.com. You can also consult the SwiftGSM product page.
