Sophia adds support for new Intel microcontroller

Sophia has introduced its newest reference platform, the Sandgate III, to accompany Intel's imminent announcement of the Monahans applications processor, the natural successor to the successful PXA270.

Sandgate III adds several new features, including a 1.8" integral Hard-disk drive, and S-Video I/O. For the first time, a Sandgate design incorporates NAND Flash to take advantage of the Monahans processor's NAND-friendly memory controller, and there is an integrated wi-fi module providing 802.11a/b.g

The new board will ship as a reference kit with complete schematics and WindowsCE 5.0 BSP (Board Support Package) source. We are now accepting orders for May delivery.

At the same time, Sophia has release a Monahans version of the popular EJ-Debug JTAG probe. Vital for anyone engaged in hardware design or driver/BSP development, the EJ-Debug allows access to Monahans' on-chip debug facilities which are hooked into Platform Builder, GDB or Intel XDB via the supplied software.

Complemented by Intel's own software tools, which are distributed by Direct Insight, the new package provides a compelling, and well-supported development setup for early adopters of Intel's latest applications processor.
