Ardence launches latest real-time for WindowsRTX 6.5 enhances functionality Ardence's RTX, the popular real-time extension for WindowsXP Embedded, provides customers with several new features and enhancements, including the ability to control the Intel Speedstep power management technology used by Pentium-M class processors. Full support for the PCI-X bus is added, and other new features include improved C++ support, .NET 2003 support, ReadyOn instant-on compatibility and multi-core Pentium support. Intel's Pentium-M class processors have introduced significant new advanced power and thermal management features for both mobile and desktop systems. The requirement to manage these features further reduces the likelihood of achieving deterministic performance using WindowsXP alone. RTX 6.5 now provides control of the Pentium-M power management functionality to ensure that real-time application and system performance is not compromised and to allow developers to take advantage of the low-power features in their design. PCI-X-based hardware has started to be introduced in standard PC hardware. The new version of RTX has been fully qualified and tested to ensure that systems with PCI-X buses are completely compatible with RTX. Both C and C++ are supported as application development languages by RTX, and as more designers move to C++, use of the STL (Standard Template Library) is required. This is now supported in the new version of RTX. ReadyOn is Ardence's instant-on solution for Windows, and with the introduction of 6.5, RTX and ReadyOn have been qualified together as an integrated solution. RTX-based solutions can therefore be developed which are available for use in less than 15 seconds from power on. For more information, visit our Ardence pages.
