Ardence RTX 8.1 Real-Time Extension for WindowsArdence has introduced a new version of the RTX real-time extension for Windows XP Embedded and Vista Version 8.1 adds key features including shared Shared Multi-Processor support for the Microsoft Windows Vista operating systems to complement existing Uniprocessor and Dedicated Multi-Processor capabilities, smaller timer periods as low as 1μs, and support for Message Signal Interrupt (MSI/MSI-X) capable RTX devices on all RTX supported operating systems, including Windows 2000, XP, XP Embedded and Vista. The new release additionally supports MMX and SSE/SSE2/SSE3 functionality. Support for Firewire and USB connection options when kernel debugging using WinDbg is also added. These latest capabilities add to the features introduced earlier in 2007 in RTX v8.0 including support for Windows Vista and for zero copy filter drivers. RTX allows Windows developers to add real-time capability to their project, providing an extension to the Win32 API which allows determinism to a few microseconds, thus making it possible to directly control external systems from embedded PC hardware in a range of applications including industrial control, medical and defence.
