New TASKING R8C/Tiny development toolset has Viper compiler
New compiler technology makes very efficient code
TASKING has introduced a toolset for the new Renesas R8C/Tiny family
of microcontrollers.
The high performance, low-cost microcontroller is complemented by the
use of a new compiler technology codenamed Viper, which is claimed to
produce spectacular results in terms of both code size and performance.
The new compiler is integrated within the user-friendly TASKING Embedded
Development Environment, featuring the Crossview-Pro debugger, with R8C/Tiny
instruction set simulator and ROM monitor functionality.
Compiler optimizations include Partial Redundancy and Elimination (PRE),
loop optimizations, control-flow analysis-based code reduction, function
inlining, constant propagation and code compaction by automatic function
creation for duplicated sequences. Nullstone and EEMBC benchmarks are
available.
The toolset includes an integrated R8C/Tiny Flasher for USB/Serial port
Flash programming, file system simulation, and code profiling and average
analysis, as well as MISRA "C" code checking.
The new toolset is available immediately from Direct Insight. A demo
version is available for download.
