New Sophia Devkit based on PXA310

Wireless platform in handset form factor supports CE 6.0, Mobile, Linux

Sophia Systems has added a new member to the Sandgate family of PXA-based reference kits. The Sandgate 3-P, based on Marvell's latest 624MHz PXA310 with on-chip video acceleration, powers a development board in the shape of a handset, with 802.11g wireless and QVGA colour display.

Software support for Sandgate 3-P includes Windows CE 6.0, Windows Mobile 6, and Linux, including the Qtopia Phone Edition. Sophia expects to offer a range of middleware options to aid IP-Phone demonstrator development.

The kit includes on-chip debugging via integration of Sophia’s EJ-Debug JTAG emulator for PXA320/PXA310.. The associated Watchpoint debugger is equipped with advanced functions such as source level debugging, branch trace reconstruction and access to specific functions of the PXA built-in register sets via a special window. Additional functions for directly downloading a program to flash ROM are provided. Watchpoint supports debugging within the various OS development environments, such as Visual Studio, Windows CE/Platform Builder, etc. The EJ-Debug unit is connected with the host PC via USB and is bus powered.
