emWare and Microchip put PICs on the Internet
A Free Seminar from Microchip and Direct Insight
If your PICmicro design needs Internet or network connectivity, then
you should consider attending this technical seminar.
At the seminar, on March 29th, we will show you a control application
running on a PICxxx acting as an "ultra-thin" web server, interacting
with a remote web browser, connected via the Internet.
In the demonstration, the PICmicro based system will act as an "ultra-thin
web server", which is monitored and controlled from a web browser, via
the Internet. This has been achieved by means of emWare's eSmartTM technology,
which provides an out-of-the-box networking solution for low-end microcontrollers,
without the usual burden associated with a TCP/IP stack.
Uses for this breakthrough technology are limited only by the user's
imagination, but typical applications include:
- Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) - reading of utility meters via the
Internet
- Environment Control - HVAC, lighting
- Public service devices: payphone, vending machine, ATM, petrol pumps
- Building controls - the "intelligent building"
- Home Automation - linking up CH, curtains, lights, irrigation, etc.
- Factory Automation -monitoring of automated production
- Security Systems - distributed intelligence
- White Goods - remote monitoring for maintenance
- Home healthcare - patient monitoring
- Office automation - web-enabled scanners, printers etc.
