EPI expands processor support, enhances flash programming, improves Linux support
GlobespanVirata Helium-500 amongst many new devices
EPI has introduced a flood of new features and enhancements to its leading
debug toolset for ARM and MIPS processors.
A new Flash programming utility greatly increases device support. New
functionality includes 16- and 32-bit endianness swapping modes and flexible
support for multiple device configurations.
Enhanced MDIserver support means that GDB Linux support is available
for all supported devices. The MDIserver interface provides translation
of GDB remote protocol commands to EPI's standard Meta Debug Interface
(MDI). This provides a standard connection so the users of the popular
GNU GBD debugger (including users of Linux and proprietary OS's) can take
advantage of the power of EPI's Majic intelligent debug probes.
MDI server and MDI now support ARM, MIPS and XScale processors, and
tools on hosts running Linux, Solaris or Cygwin, so users can keep their
familiar GNU/GDB tools and use Majic to support all phases of development.
As well as adding Platform Builder support for MIPS devices, the new
release expands support adding new devices from 8 families. Most notable
are the GlobespanVirata Helium-500, ATI Technologies Xilleon 220 and 225,
and new device families from Broadcom and IDT.
