Windows CE 5.0 BSP PXA270

Direct Insight has introduced a new Board Support Package (BSP) for the TRITON-270 system for Windows CE 5.0, with powerful new features intended to provide easy access to interfaces and peripherals to the application programmer.

Based on the PXA270 processor, the production-ready TRITON-270 module offers developers an ultra-low-power solution ideal for handheld devices. Bundled with the StarterKit-3 development system and a complete, production-quality BSP, even first-time users of Windows CE can quickly create their own platform using a simple custom baseboard, and a rebuild of the supplied BSP. Once the platform is created, development effort can be focused on application development using the comprehensive APIs provided by the supplied drivers.

In the new 1.7 release, new drivers and APIs have been added for a range of interfaces including I2C, Serial EEPROM and keypad. Some of the existing drivers for USB device and host, Ethernet, touch screen and power management have been improved. The facility to control the LCD configuration dynamically via a GPIO has been added, and the range of available GPIO interrupts extended.

The new capabilities are provided with a range of example files, and the product documentation has been updated.

The Windows CE 5.0 BSP for Starterkit-3 with TRITON-270 is supplied to customers in binary form, and the user community can download the new BSP free of charge from Direct Insight's TRITON user pages. For an additional fee, customers are provided with source code access for the BSP, and this download is also available to entitled customers.

StarterKit-3 development systems are supplied with Windows CE 5.0 installed, and come complete with tools, training and support.
