Production-ready board with SwiftModule can be customized

Direct Insight has introduced a Beagleboard replacement solution for projects using the OMAP3530, DM3730 or AM3517 family-based SwiftModule-DM or –AM, and wishing to use an off the shelf baseboard to complete a production-ready solution.

While Beagleboard is an excellent solution for development and prototyping, the task of transforming the prototype to a manufacturing-friendly solution can be daunting. The Beagleboard itself is not suitable for production use for a variety of reasons, including its unreliable availability, and non-guaranteed lifetime in any particular version. The combination of SwiftLite baseboard carrying a tiny production-ready module based on DM3730, AM3517 or OM3530 can provide a production-friendly alternative, offering a guaranteed 5-year lifetime. Because the baseboard is a simple design, it can easily be configured for each project, simply by not populating expensive options (such as LVDS, HDMI, USB Hub etc) which are provided on the full-featured development board.

Custom depopulated builds of SwiftLite are available at volumes of 100 or more. The processor module can also be partially customised by choosing clock speed, processor variant (e.g DM3703 instead of DM3730, AM3505 instead of AM3517 etc), and various interface options.
