New TRITON-320 module is smaller, lower power

The new TRITON-320 module measures just 67.6mm x 26mm , but runs Windows Embedded CE 6.0 and Linux 2.6.17, and provides outstanding performance, easily handling 640 x 480 video decoding from MPEG-4 and H264, and providing a wide range of interfaces.

Based on Marvell’s PXA320 microcontroller running at 806MHz, the TRITON-320 features sub 1W power consumption and is ideal for handheld devices. The module offers up to 128MB of Dual Data Rate 260MHz SDRAM, and 32MB of NAND Flash. On-chip peripherals include USB Host and Device, SD and CompactFlash card interfaces, I2C, AC’97, I2S, camera, and a range of serial ports. The production quality module operates from a single 3.3 to 5.0v supply.

For development purposes, the TRITON-320 plugs into the StarterKit-4 baseboard via its DIMM200 connector. This combination, with optional touch-screen display is supplied as a complete development kit running Linux or Windows CE 6.0. The Linux BSP ships with a complete GCC toolchain, allowing users to modify the BSP as required. Windows CE source code is also available. . In production, the module is plugged directly into a simple custom baseboard to complete the final product, and the production-quality BSP is modified to correspond to the interfaces in use, creating an application-ready platform.

The StarterKit-4 includes connectors for the I/O facilities offered by the PXA320 processor and TRITON-320, including a CompactFlash type II socket, SD/MMC card socket, 3 x RS232 connectors, USB-device and USB-Host connectors, and a D-SUB15 VGA connector for the video DAC. In addition, there is a DM9000 10/100 BaseT Ethernet, a UCB1400 audio codec and touchscreen controller with two 3.5mm audio connectors. The on-board power supply has an 6 - 24V input range and both 3.3v and 5v are available on-board.
