TASKING C166 / ST10 toolset improves optimisation, supports flash

Major enhancements to leading C166 / ST10 compiler, debugger suite

TASKING has announced significant enhancements to its widely adopted C166 toolsuite, including improved code compression, integrated flash programming, a revamped EDE, new ROM Monitor support for XC16x, new derivative support, and numerous minor changes.

Code execution speed and size have been improved by new "Data Flow Analysis Peephole" (DAFP) optimisation. The Crossview Pro debugger has been enhanced to provide symbolic register support, better OCDS integration and OSEK RTOS-aware debug confomring to both the ORTI 2.0 and 2.1 specs.

The EDE environment has improved menus, and the control panel automatically configures for the selected processor variant.

C++ users get the Standard Template Library (STLport) which is regarded as a de facto standard and can save you from nasty conformance traps and portability issues.

A new Flash memory utility means that both internal and external memory can be programmed from within the EDE, without the need for an external utility.

We also supply Signum's JTAGjet-C166, a high speed OCDS emulator and debugger for those tasked with hardware development and software/hardware integration.

Further details of our C166 solution appear on our microcontroller pages.

You can download a "What's New" datasheet from our TASKING download area.
