GX-Linux BSP announced for Cogent Au1550 module

# #

Microcross Linux project now supports CSB655 Alchemy board

AMD Alchemy Au1550 microcontroller Another comprehensive embedded Linux solution has been added to the Microcross GX-Linux range with the introduction of a BSP for Cogent's CSB655 ultra-small module based on the AMD Alchemy Au1550 microcontroller - a MIPS32 based processor featuring very low power operation, high performance, and an extensive range of on-cnip peripherals including Ethernet, PCI and USB device and host.

GX-Linux is a commercially supported yet cost-effective embedded Linux solution, which means that developers can approach their project and the associated deadlines without risk of becoming mired in issues such as finding and integrating drivers, bootloader development and tool version problems. The solution is delivered with a complete Visual X-Tools development environment based on a tested GCC distribution, and local technical support from Direct Insight. A Cogent CSB655 module with CSB955 breakout board is included.

Cogent's CSB655 is an OEM board which frees the developer from the demanding and risky task of spinning their own design based on the Au1550's 483-pin micro-BGA package. Measuring just 45mm x 64mm the module is intended for design-in in low and medium volume applications, and is priced at £110 / €160 or lower. As well as the 400MHz Au1550 microcontroller, 64MB of 32-bit DDR266 SDRAM and 8MB Flash are included, and serial ID and Ethernet PHY are also implemented.
