Using a production-ready module or SBC can get your high-end Compact 7, Windows CE, Windows Embedded Standard, Android or Linux based product to market in a matter of weeks, avoiding complex hardware design and OS-porting issues. Our production-ready system-on-modules use ARM-based microcontrollers, from simple, cost effective ARM9 based devices which are easily capable of running Windows CE or Linux, up to the latest ARM Cortex-A8 or ARM Cortex-A9 devices with sophisticated video and graphics acceleration, capable of supporting HD displays. Our Atom-based SBCs run Windows Embedded Standard (XPe) and Linux, and feature a range of industrial features such as EMC approval, IEEE1588 Ethernet, Power over Ethernet. The use of a production-quality module removes the need to design PCBs to support 500+ pin microBGAs at clock frequencies up to 1.5GHz, and avoids the even larger task of writing or adapting board support packages to port 32-bit operating systems to custom hardware. Various production-ready modules and SBCs are available from Direct Insight based on different microcontrollers, each with an extensive, but unique, set of on-chip interfaces. In each case, Compact 7, Windows CE, Android and/or Linux has been ported to the module, directly supporting the wide range of available connectivity via production quality drivers, and thereby rendering accessible the higher-level protocols and rich feature set provided by these operating systems.
